NZIPCS involved with Australasian Plastic Surgery Trainees Week

Our surgeons from the New Zealand Institute of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery (NZIPCS) were busy last week, teaching the up and coming Plastic Surgeons of Australia and New Zealand during the week-long bi-national annual training conference.

Mr Stephen Gilbert and Mr Jonathan Wheeler were involved as examiners with the clinical mock exams. These exams are designed to test candidates coming up to their final Plastic Surgery examinations on their assessment and management of common Plastic Surgery problems. Patients kindly give their time to be involved with this and it is of great benefit to the future of the doctors in their training to become Plastic Surgeons.

Mr Glenn Bartlett is a current Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Examiner in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He gave a presentation to the surgeons involved with the candidate examinations on how to assess the candidates performance.

Mr Janek Januszkiewicz lectured on breast augmentation and Mr Jonathan Wheeler was involved in small group tutorials on breast reduction techniques.

The conference is spread over two years to cover all the aspects of Plastic, Reconstructive and Cosmetic Surgery that aspiring Plastic Surgeons need to know. Next year the conference moves back to Australia.
